Evidence for the CQC Responsive key question

Responsive asks whether services meet people's needs. CQC groups it into seven quality statements focused on person-centred care, information, listening to people and fair access.

MyCareCompliance brings practical CQC audits, evidence, workforce oversight and improvement actions into one platform for adult social care providers.

7 days free. Plans from £24.99 per organisation per month, inclusive of VAT. Features vary by plan. Compare plans and trial terms.

Who it applies to

All CQC-registered adult social care providers.

The seven Responsive quality statements

  • Person-centred care — care plans reflecting people's preferences and goals
  • Care provision, integration and continuity — joint working with health and other services
  • Providing information — accessible formats in line with the Accessible Information Standard
  • Listening to and involving people — feedback, complaints and how they changed things
  • Equity in access — removing barriers for people with protected characteristics
  • Equity in experiences and outcomes — checking outcomes are fair across groups
  • Planning for the future — advance care planning and end of life wishes

Internal audit questions

  1. 1.Do care plans show the person's own words and goals?
  2. 2.Is information offered in formats people can use?
  3. 3.Can you show a change made because of a complaint or feedback?
  4. 4.Are future wishes recorded where people want to discuss them?

Practical checklist

  • Evidence mapped to each Responsive quality statement
  • Complaints and feedback outcomes recorded
  • Accessible information needs flagged in records
