Turnaround

CQC turnaround support for services under pressure

A poor rating, a warning notice or a set of breaches does not turn around on paper. It turns around when the service can show that findings were acted on, checked again and sustained. That is what this support is built to produce.

Where turnaround usually starts

Most services we take on are in one of these positions.

  • Rated Requires Improvement or Inadequate and facing re-inspection
  • A warning notice or requirement notice with a deadline to meet
  • Breaches of Regulation 12 (safe care) or Regulation 17 (good governance)
  • A new manager inheriting an action plan they did not write
  • Local authority or commissioner concerns and suspended placements

Week one: an honest gap analysis

A full inspection-style review against the five Key Questions and the Quality Statements, written up in CQC's own language, with indicative ratings and every gap an inspector would find. No softening — you need to know the worst of it first.

A single action plan everyone works from

Findings become actions with an owner, a priority and a deadline, held in one place rather than across spreadsheets and emails. Each action records what was done, when, and the evidence attached to it — which is exactly what a re-inspection asks for.

Proving improvement is sustained

Repeat audits show the same areas re-checked over time, so you can demonstrate a trend rather than a one-off fix. Governance reports, incident trends and staff compliance all sit behind it, and exports are watermarked and logged.

Consultant alongside you, not a one-off report

Monthly consultancy is £60 for two hours of dedicated remote support — action planning, policies, governance, staff files, notifications and re-inspection preparation. Additional consultancy during an intensive turnaround is by agreement. A mock CQC inspection before re-inspection is £495, or £395 for subscribers.
